The Kunstraum Kreuzberg Bethanien is located within a listed building complex, the former ‘Bethanien Hospital’ built by Ludwig Persius in 1847. It originally started as a squatted project space run by punks in the 1980ies before it became an established publicly funded art space and cultural institution in the Berlin district of Kreuzberg. In the course of the renovation and reorganisation of the entrance and exhibition area, a new furniture series was created especially tailored to the flexible needs of the art space, including a mobile bar counter for openings, a reception table, book display and library elements as well as a high desk, which can be used as a rest for the guest book as well as a speaker’s desk. All elements are made of lacquered ash wood following same construction principles to form a family. They are mobile, lightweight and foldable and can be easily assembled and dismantled for flexible use and space saving storage.
